About Telic · telic (adj.): directed toward a definite purpose
Engineering practical solutions for ambitious businesses.
We believe growing businesses deserve technology that works as hard as they do.
Our approach starts with understanding the challenges businesses face, from disconnected systems and repetitive processes to software that no longer supports their growth. We design and build practical technology solutions that simplify operations, improve visibility and create a stronger foundation for the future.
How we think
Eight principles behind every engagement.
These aren't values on a poster. They are the decisions we make on every project — including the decision, sometimes, that software isn't the answer.
Purpose-built software.
- 1Understand the business before recommending technology.
- 2Solve problems rather than simply deliver software.
- 3Build solutions around actual business processes.
- 4Recommend AI only where it provides genuine business value.
- 5Prioritise reliability, security, maintainability and scalability.
- 6Provide clear communication and realistic project expectations.
- 7Build long-term client relationships through measurable value.
- 8Avoid unnecessary complexity or expensive solutions when simpler alternatives will work.

The founder
Independently founded. Engineering-led.
Telic is an independent consultancy founded and run by a software engineer with hands-on experience building the kinds of systems growing businesses depend on. That means the person you talk to in discovery is the person who understands how the solution will actually be built.
[FOUNDER BIO — two or three sentences on background, the kind of work done to date and why the company was started. Reference employer or client work only where permission has been granted.]
Working with Telic
Built for businesses where operations matter.
Telic is an independent South African technology consultancy focused on practical systems that people can actually use. Here is what that means in practice.
Why Telic exists
Growing businesses are usually offered two options: off-the-shelf software that doesn't fit, or large agencies that cost more than the problem. Telic exists to give operationally complex SMEs a third option: an engineer who understands the business first and builds only what is needed.
What "independent" means
No reseller agreements, no software licences to sell you and no preferred vendor. Recommendations are based on what fits your business, including keeping what you already have or buying something off the shelf.
A strong fit
Businesses that manage stock, documents, jobs, deliveries, approvals or several connected systems — typically with 10 to 100 staff — where manual administration is becoming expensive and leadership wants better visibility.
Not a good fit
Marketing websites, mobile consumer apps, one-off bug fixes on someone else's code, or projects where the goal is to replace a working system that only needs small adjustments. We will say so in the first conversation.
How an engagement runs
A discovery conversation, then a short assessment with a written scope, realistic timeline and estimate. Build happens in phases, with the manual process kept running alongside until the new one is trusted. Training and handover are part of the work, not an afterthought.
Where the work happens
Remote-first, working with clients across South Africa, with on-site discovery and training in Gauteng where it helps. Where a project needs more hands than one founder, we say so up front and bring in trusted specialists under clear terms.
Technical approach
Built to be relied on, and to be changed later.
The technology choices on a project are made for the business, not for the engineer. These are the standards every solution is held to.
We don't just build software. We solve business problems with technology.
If that sounds like the kind of partner your business needs, let's talk.
